Choose what to label

The label-print dialog can include pieces, reusable offcuts or both, with ordering by cutting sequence or piece identifiers. Frame and contrast options help make the output readable. Check the sequence before sending a batch to the printer.

  1. Select the result and use Print labels in the Results menu. Choose the Windows printer.

  2. Choose the pieces/offcuts and their ordering. Click the configuration button.

  3. Choose TonCut for the built-in layout. Set outer margins on the page-margins page.

  4. On the labels page, set rows, columns, dimensions, gaps and internal margins.

  5. Use Apply to save and preview while staying in configuration, or OK to save and close.

Cancel does not undo changes already saved with Apply.

    Cancel closes configuration.

  6. Return to the print dialog and check the label preview. Then print a small test batch.

  7. Before printing the full batch, check identifiers, dimensions, order, readable text and unclipped content.

Set the sheet and label geometry

These controls are in label configuration. In the result’s Print labels window, click Configuration, then use its page-margins and labels pages.

  • Page margins set the printable label area.
  • Rows and columns describe the label grid.
  • Width and height describe one label; horizontal and vertical gaps describe the spaces between labels.
  • Internal margins and line spacing control the content inside each label.
  • Check the page-size information and preview after changing paper size, orientation or label geometry.

Roll-label printers: one page, one label

For a Zebra or similar roll-label printer installed in Windows, set up each printed page as one physical label. The steps below use the TonCut layout and the printer's Windows driver. This is useful when you take labels from the roll one at a time; small labels may need fewer information fields.

Horizontal and vertical spacing in TonCut separates labels on the same page. With one label per page, these settings do not control how the roll advances. Follow the printer's instructions if labels feed incorrectly.

  1. Open label printing for the result and select the roll printer. In its settings, choose one label’s paper size and check orientation.

  2. Close the printer settings to return to the label-print dialog. Click Configuration, choose TonCut and set 1 row and 1 column.

  3. Set label width and height to fit the printable area after page margins.

  4. Check page and internal margins. Remove optional fields if needed; keep identifiers and dimensions readable.

  5. Click OK to close label configuration. In the print dialog, inspect several preview pages: one complete label per page. Check included items, order and copies.

  6. Set copies to 1 and print two or three test labels.

  7. Before the full batch, check size, orientation, order, readable text, unclipped edges and correct feeding without blank labels.

Choose useful content

For the TonCut layout, open the separate piece and reusable-offcut pages in label configuration to enable their content. Use its text-style page for the selected text category and its footer page for footer text or logo. Apply the change and inspect the updated print preview before producing labels.

Piece labels can include dimensions, identifiers, descriptions, project, material, color, stock number, result information and a preview. Offcut labels have their own choices. Stack labels and individual stack-item labels are separate options. Use font styles and footer text or a logo only where they leave enough room for essential production information.

The gross, net and cutting dimensions topic connects these settings with material groups, edge bands, piece entry, import and output. Use it before correcting a size merely because two views show different numbers.

TonCut piece labels show gross dimensions; reusable-offcut labels show the offcut’s own dimensions. The dimensions switch on the piece-label page shows or hides those values; it does not select Gross/Net. Match one label to its piece by identifier, then compare its dimensions with that piece displayed as Gross in the list before a test print.

Text styles, footers and label details

In label configuration, select the text category before changing its font, size, bold, italic, underline or color settings. Use the sample preview to see the effect. Footer printing has its own switch, text and company-logo file.

  • Piece-label switches independently control dimensions, description, extra description, stock number, material, piece numbers, field titles, identifiers, result information, project, color and item preview. Preview rotation is a separate choice.
  • Offcut labels have their own stock-number, description, extra-text, material, preview, field-title, result and identifier options.
  • For both kinds, whole-stack labels and individual stack-item labels are independent choices. Check the resulting label count and content, particularly if both are selected.
