Configuration and repeatable work

Keep units, display choices and reusable settings consistent.

Units and presentation

Configuration provides millimetres, centimetres or inches, numeric precision, thousands separation and a choice of gross, net or cutting dimensions in lists. It also includes interface scale, project and stock statistics, and preview-color options. Review these settings when two workstations appear to show different data.

The gross, net and cutting dimensions topic connects these settings with material groups, edge bands, piece entry, import and output. Use it before correcting a size merely because two views show different numbers.

  1. Open Options → Configuration and its dimensions page. Select unit, precision and Gross/Net/Cutting for lists.

  2. On the display page, change the needed scale, project/stock statistics or preview colors.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Find a piece by its drawing identifier and compare its list dimensions with the drawing.

Do not change a correct record merely to reconcile different display conventions.

Use the same unit and dimension type as the drawing. The dimensions topic explains gross/net editor comparisons. Cutting is a list mode, not an editor input choice.

Files, plugins and recovery

Configure import, export and result-export folders to make handoff files easy to find. The plugin list shows name, version and state and offers start, stop, configuration and information actions. Keep import profiles distinct from optimization profiles: one interprets external data, the other controls the search. Use the backup and restore functions as part of your normal data-recovery process.

  1. Open Options → Configuration and its folders page. For each of import, input-data export and result export, choose a fixed or last-used folder.

  2. For a fixed folder, enter or browse to its path.

  3. Click OK to save the chosen folder settings.

  4. Reopen Configuration → Plugins. Select a plugin before starting, stopping or configuring it, or viewing its information.

Plugin actions take effect immediately; Cancel in the main configuration does not undo them.

Plugin configuration opens its own settings. Close that window to return to the plugin list.

  5. After start or stop, check the plugin’s state column.

  6. Close Configuration and reopen the relevant import/export command. Check its available file types.

Backup and selective restore

Choose a destination file in the backup dialog and wait for completion. Restore starts from a selected backup file and separately offers data, configuration, paths and profiles. At least one restore category must be selected. Review the scope before restoring, especially when moving settings to a different workstation.

  1. For a backup, open Backup from Options. Use browse to choose destination and filename, then confirm the file chooser.

  2. Click OK in Backup. Wait for the operation to finish and show a success message, then check that the file exists at the chosen location.

  3. To restore, open Restore from Options and browse to the intended backup.

First make a current backup if you need to preserve this workstation’s existing data.

  4. Review data, configuration, paths and profiles. Clear unwanted categories and leave at least one selected.

All four restore categories start selected.

  5. Check the source file and categories to restore, then click OK. Wait for the operation to finish and show a success message.

  6. Inspect restored lists and selected settings in the refreshed main window.

  7. If an error appears, retain the message and correct the file or destination problem before retrying.

Do not treat a failed restore as successfully restored data.

Identification and automatic priorities

Open Options → Configuration and its general page for piece/stock identification, automatic offcut identifiers and simple/project operation. Open the projects page for priority thresholds. After editing those fields, click OK and check a representative record or project; changing a display setting does not relabel a previously exported file.

  • Piece identification can use description alone, identifier with description, or barcode with description. Stock identification has its own choices. Choose a presentation that matches your workshop references.
  • Automatic identifiers for reusable offcuts use separate 1D and 2D templates. You can use %I, %L, %W and %S, as well as %%. Include at least one variable. For the fixed text, use letters A–Z and a–z, digits, parentheses, square brackets, spaces or hyphens. Check variable spelling and do not leave a lone percent sign at the end.
  • For an offcut identifier template, %I inserts a unique numeric identifier, %L the material length, %W its width and %S its surface structure. Edit the separate 1D/2D template fields only when automatic identifiers are enabled. Include at least one variable and use permitted fixed text. Check a resulting offcut identifier before relying on it in another system.
  • Project priority thresholds use hours or days before the due date. The critical threshold must be strictly smaller than the high-priority threshold. Check the selected unit when changing either value.
  • For the single-job and multi-project workflows, see the workspace topic. Its mode-switch procedure uses Configuration’s General page and explains the confirmation and the lists to inspect afterward.

Update checks, statistics and working folders

Open Options → Configuration and its advanced page for automatic update checks, the session-statistics choice and the Excel add-in repair action. Set startup checking and/or the interval there, then save field edits with OK. Update and repair buttons are separate actions; read their result messages before leaving the window.

Automatic update checks can run at startup and/or at a configured interval in hours. The manual update action is separate. Permission to send session statistics is an independent checkbox; choose it according to your preference.

  • For import, input-data export and result export, choose either a fixed folder or the last-used folder independently. A fixed-folder field is relevant when that mode is selected.
  • Interface scale, project-statistics visibility, stock-statistics visibility and use of preview colors are separate display settings.
  • The configuration also provides an Excel add-in repair action for that integration; it is not part of ordinary CSV import.

Identification, projects and miter measurement

Piece identification can use barcode with description, identifier with description, or description alone. Stock identification offers identifier with description or description alone. Automatic reusable-offcut identifiers are available with identifier-based stock identification, with separate templates for 1D and 2D offcuts.

  • For the single-job and multi-project workflows, see the workspace topic. Its mode-switch procedure uses Configuration’s General page and explains the confirmation and the lists to inspect afterward.
  • The dimensions page includes miter measurement settings. Keep the chosen convention consistent with the source data and device convention, and inspect the piece preview after changes.
  • Changing an identification or display convention does not replace checking the identifiers and dimensions actually transferred in an export.
