Configure and inspect the preview

Prepare the selected result for the workshop. The preview opens before anything is printed.

  1. After calculation stops, select the result. Open Print from the Results menu or toolbar.

  2. Select the Windows printer. Open its settings beside the selector and set the paper size.

  3. Return to the print dialog, choose orientation and select the required layouts or pages.

  4. Choose piece identification and whether to include summaries and statistics.

  5. Enable useful cutting-order, main-cut-dimension and waste markings.

  6. Browse the selected preview pages at a readable zoom. Set the page range and copy count, then click Print.

  7. Before handing over the printed instructions, check the first page for complete dimensions and unclipped content.

Make dense plans readable

The print options include rotating a layout to make it larger, adding page numbers to summaries and showing single-piece layouts in a table. Choose a combination that keeps part references consistent between the plan and the workshop list. For 1D work, inspect end angles and length information separately.

The gross, net and cutting dimensions topic connects these settings with material groups, edge bands, piece entry, import and output. Use it before correcting a size merely because two views show different numbers.

Printer, page selection and preview controls

  • Printer selection chooses the Windows printer. Open its settings to check the driver paper size and orientation; these settings can affect the printable area.
  • Copies sets the number of copies. Collation controls the ordering of multiple copies. Check the preview and printer settings before producing a batch.
  • The page range offers the current page, all pages or a custom selection. The custom editor accepts page numbers, commas and hyphens; check the selected pages in the preview. The current-page print checkbox controls whether that page is included.
  • First, previous, next and last page controls navigate the preview. Fit page, fit width and 100% change the preview magnification, not the dimensions of your pieces.
  • Font and page-margin actions change the printed presentation. Recheck page count, readable dimensions and clipping after adjusting them.

Cutting layout versus gross piece dimensions

The layout shows the cutting plan. Its main-cut dimension option annotates cuts; it does not choose gross or net input. Printed piece tables use gross dimensions and show allowance or deduction separately where applicable. Piece labels also use gross dimensions. A table or label can therefore show a different size from the size required for cutting.

Before printing a batch, locate a banded piece by its identifier in the print preview. Compare its table row with the same piece displayed as Gross in the list, then check the cutting information against the Cutting list display and the plan. Check the identifiers so that you are comparing the same piece. Use the dimensions topic to resolve a difference before issuing instructions.
